This past year, two teams of Master’s of Health Administration (MHA) students from the UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health completed capstone projects related to simulation activities at UNC Hospitals and within the Clinical Learning and Research (CLeAR) Center.

“Collinear Consulting”, as they were known in their course, focused on “Medical Simulation Collaboration Program At University of North Carolina Hospitals”. Their project interviewed numerous stake holders within the UNC Hospitals and identified areas for improvement to enhance utilization and collaboration among these various stakeholders.

“Surgical Solutions” focused on the CLeAR Center “Cardiothoracic Simulation Business Plan”. This team took time to delve into the inner working of the CLeAR Center and identified methods for increasing utilization and areas for future growth.

The faculty professor/ advisor for the Capstone was Dr. John Paul of the UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health. The students were also assisted by Mr Al Bonifacio who is an alum of the MHA program and currently serves as the Trauma Outreach Coordinator, Trauma Nurse Educator and Mid Carolina RAC Coordinator for the UNC Department of Emergency Medicine as well as a member of the Children’s and Women’s Hospitals Simulation Committee.
