Today, UNC Trauma Services went live with their new Tarheel Trauma protocol.
In the February of 2016, Dr. Daryhl Johnson and UNC Trauma Leaders were awarded a $50,000 seed grant from the Institute of Healthcare Quality and Innovation (IHQI) to optimize trauma resuscitations.
The goals of the project have been to:
- Standardize the trauma process
- Sustain it through initial and ongoing education which will include mock traumas and quarterly continuum of care conferences
- And super-charge our existing process improvement efforts with cool things like recording live traumas and developing a data dashboard that will let us know how we’re doing at-a-glance and in real time
