Trauma_Day_2016_CTUNC Health Care hosted the first of their annual “Trauma Day” simulations for the hospital junior volunteers yesterday.

The event coordinated by UNC Emergency Department Nurse Educator Heather Tuttle brings our Jr Volunteers in contact with numerous departments and clinicians. They learn skills critical to acute patient care and pull these all together to care for a simulated patient following a motor vehicle accident.

Last year the event focussed on the consequences of texting and driving. This year the team has focused on the story of one of our own team members. The accident that brought him into the care of his own trauma team occurred because he was driving while exhausted.
