surgery_huffington_2016_1Dr. Darryl S. Weiman recently published a Huffington Post article describing the recent Thoracic Surgery Directors Association (TSDA) “Boot Camp” held in the Clinical Learning and Research (CLeAR) Simulation Center.

Every year the Boot Camp is organized by Dr. Richard Feins and brings “seasoned” cardiothoracic surgeons to Chapel Hill to work with the new residents from around the country.

surgery_huffington_2016_2In 2011, Feins was awarded a three-year, $1.05 million grant by the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) to study the use of simulators for cardiac surgery training. This work was presented to the AHRQ and TSDA in 2015 (previous article).

The CLeAR Center is an Acredited Education Institue by the American College of Surgeons.
