Dr. Kimberly Blasius was recognized with the Excellence in Scholarship Award by the UNC Academy of Educators (AOE). Dr. Blasius is a pediatric anesthesiologist in the NC Children’s Hospital.
Dr. Blasius’ contributions to innovative education surround pediatric high-fidelity and low-fidelity simulation. This includes her work in the mini-medical school program for Carolina Athletics and The Carolina Leadership Lab for undergraduate student athletes. She also leads the pediatric anesthesia fellowship simulation bootcamp and many of the the pediatric multi-disciplinary simulations occurring throughout the NC Children’s Hospital. Dr. Benny Joyner noted that he has “found her to be not only an enthusiastic and outstanding educator but also a creative and innovative one at that.”
