Code_hands-202x269The teams from UNC Rex Healthcare (Rex) and North Carolina Heart & Vascular (NCHV) in Raleigh provided CPR Basics in 2-3 Minutes for visitors to their booth at the NC State Fair.

More than 140 volunteers taught compression-only CPR to booth visitors. Compression-only CPR is a skill that can double or triple the odds of survival for someone in sudden cardiac arrest.

“We need to dispel the myths and fears of bystander CPR,” said Dr. James Jollis, a cardiologist with North Carolina Heart & Vascular, a cardiology practice with 15 locations across Central and Eastern North Carolina. “I’ve treated many patients who would not have made it, if not for a bystander starting compressions after calling 911. Other countries have much higher rates of bystander CPR, and much higher survival rates.”

The initial release about the event can be found here.

Well done team!
