The 7th Annual, “You Bought The Manikin, Now What? Best Practices in Simulation Education” conference. The conference was held at the Hilton Garden Inn in Cary. This meeting is sponsored jointly by the Charlotte AHEC, Greensboro AHEC, Southern Regional AHEC and in association with the N.C. AHEC Nurse Council and the North Carolina Nurses Association Simulation Council.

IMG_4819Mr. Al Bonifacio from trauma services and Mr. Gene Hobbs from the School of Medicine and Department of Pediatrics presented “In Scrubs for a Day or for Life: Using Multimodal Simulation to Teach High School Volunteers about Medical Careers and Injury Prevention”. This presentation covered the “Trauma Day” activity hosted for the UNC Hospitals Jr Volunteers. They covered the logistics involved in organizing an event like this, how to technically pull things together to meet the core objectives, and “value loading” to meet maximum organizational impact.

IMG_4818In the afternoon, Dr. Carol Durham from the School of Nursing sat on a panel moderated by Mary Holtschneider from DukeSim and the Durham VA Hospital. Their panel provided and overview and update on the “NCSBN Simulation Study“.
