The first annual SimOps Conference was hosed by the Society for Simulation in Healthcare (SSH) in Greenville South Carolina this week. The venue for the event was the Healthcare Simulation South Carolina facility that serves 14 member collaborative programs.

Ms Leanne Reaves RN, BSN, CEN, and Mr Josh Compton FP-C, CCEMT-P, NRP of the Carolina AirCare Training, Education and Performance Improvement team attended the conference. Reaves and Compton have been utilizing simulation to improve patient safety as well as orient new team members to AirCare operations. This conference offered them an opportunity to gain insight from other simulation programs and share experience from their own successful UNCsim programs.

Compton also tweeted that their …”Team won the audio video competition!” (tweet).

Also in attendance was Gene Hobbs CHSE from the Department of Pediatrics and School of Medicine. Hobbs presented on simulator maintenance and repairs as well as a session describing programatic growth by utilizing quality improvement projects as a catalyst for educational events.
