Ashley_Peds_DialysisAshley Kellish DNP, MSN, RN, CCNS, CCRN left UNC in 2015 to serve as the Faculty Development Educator for Boston Children’s Hospital. In returning to NC Children’s, she brings back tremendous experience in instructional design and psychological safety.

In 2013, Kellish Co-Founded and Chaired the NC Children’s Hospital Simulation Committee. This committee has served as a breeding ground for education, innovation, and research.

Gene Hobbs, UNC School of Medicine Director of Simulation, stated that he is excited to “catch Ashley up on the progress we have made in her absence. We have expanded on the foundation she laid to establish a temporary simulation laboratory for the Children’s Hospital that has been functioning at an over 80% utilization since it’s inception.” The addition of a dedicated space has already allowed Kellish to begin a curricular overhaul to the new graduate nurse orientation for NC Children’s.

Dr. Benny Joyner, vice chair of Pediatrics and Clinical Director of the School of Medicine’s Clinical Skills and Patient Simulation Center noted that “we have expanded on Ashley’s quality improvement work and have begun to recognize tremendous cost savings throughout UNC Health Care. With the skills she developed and brought back to #UNCsim, we are positioned to continue making significant impacts to the overall operations of NC Children’s and UNC Health Care.”
