On December 9, 2019, Neurosurgeon, Dr. Deb Bhowmick, taught a course for residents and medical students that focused on the complexities of navigating the spine.
Learners were able to experience open spine procedures, screw placement both manually and with navigation assistance, as well as robot assisted procedures.
Huge thank you to the DePuy Synthes division of J&J for providing the cadaveric models, supplies, surgical instrumentation, and general support for this incredible active learning session. This is the first official use of the surgical skills lab supported by J&J since they certified the lab for use in October.
Thank you also to Siemens Health and BrainLab for the additional C-Arm and navigation software to show the team how to perform these complex tasks.
Technical support was also provided by Imaging Supervisor for O.R./Portables Radiology Mr Carleton Lincoln and Neurosurgery Business Manager Mr Gene Hobbs.
