Al Bonifacio RN, BSN, MHA, CEN, was part of a team that recently published an article on lessons learned while implementing in situ simulation-based quality improvement program at the Durham Veterans Affairs Medical Center Patient Safety Center of Inquiry. Their team conducted 72 simulated unannounced cardiac arrest exercises between October 2010 and September 2013.

Mr Bonifacio is the Trauma Outreach Coordinator, Trauma Nurse Educator and Mid Carolina RAC Coordinator for the UNC Department of Emergency Medicine and a member of the Children’s and Women’s Hospitals Simulation Committee.

Dr Barbeito is also currently working with Dr. Stiegler of the CAPSEL team to determine the influence of information bias on performance during simulated cardiac arrests.
