Kim_CHOPThis year UNC had it’s first participant, Dr. Chelsea Willie, in the 4th Annual Children’s Hospital Of Philadelphia (CHOP) Pediatric Anesthesiology Fellowship Boot Camp on the first of August. Dr Kimberly Blasius enjoyed her 2nd time as faculty for this Boot Camp.

Along with Dr Blasius from UNC and Dr John Eck, Program Director for the Duke Pediatric Anesthesiology Fellowship representing the triangle,  there was over 20 faculty from multiple other institutions including CHOP, Johns Hopkins, University of Wisconsin, Nationwide Children’s, Dupont Children’s Hospital, Drexel and Penn State Hershey. Each year the program grows and this year 29 pediatric anesthesiology fellows participated.

The workshop included many skills station such as advanced airway management and ultrasound with live models. The participants were able to have multiple simulations to gear them up for fellowship!

A special thank you to Dr Devika Singh and the team at CHOP who have now organized this fantastic multi-institutional event for the 4th year in a row! Dr Blasius is looking forward to returning next year and hoping to bring more participants from UNC!

Today, Drs Hemanth Baboolal and Blasius are conducting a local workshop for the new UNC Pediatric Anesthesia Fellowship class. In the spring, Drs Baboolal and Blasius will conduct an advanced workshop for their fellows along with a visiting fellow from Duke. Dr Eck will also be joining the faculty for this 2016 workshop.
