On January 8th, the Department of Neurosurgery’s weekly resident surgical skills lab focused on aneurysm & microvascular dissection. This unique lab utilized fresh tissue to simulate normal and abnormal brain tissue.
Neurosurgery faculty Drs. Hadar, Sasaki-Adams, and Quinsey were joined by the Med Director of Periop Services, Cardiothoracic surgeon & #UNCsim extraordinaire, Dr. Richard Feins. Dr. Feins is a long time champion of simulation exercises based on tissue models and recently lead the development of the cardiac surgery curriculum with $1.05 Million in funding from the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ).
